Band Supports Patient With Surprise Concert12/18/2013 Hospital Teacher Julia Stead coordinated with Wichita Middle School’s band director to stage a surprise holiday concert, performed in the Emanuel Hospital Atrium for one of Stead’s hospital school program students–a flute player in the band before her hospitalization. Band members traveled that morning in a school bus all the way from Roseburg. Doctors, therapists, spectators, and participants alike were touched by this heartfelt display of support, not to mention what it must have meant for Stead’s student.
